Devin was born and raised as part of a family farm operation near the town of Rosetown in west-central Saskatchewan. Post-graduation, Devin garnered a BA in political science from the University of Calgary, an MA in Communication from Ryerson and York Universities in Toronto, followed by a law degree from the University of Saskatchewan. Devin practiced law in Saskatchewan for a number of years, serving primarily agriculture retailers, agricultural equipment vendors and ag-creditors. Devin served briefly as counsel to the Canada West Equipment Dealer’s Association before it merged with it’s American cousin to form the Western Equipment Dealer’s Association. As part of his legal practice, Devin helped three John Deere dealerships, Western Tractor in Alberta, Western Sales in Saskatchewan and Enns Bros in Manitoba, establish a dealership-based agronomy group under the trade name FieldSmart. Devin has since joined with Wilson Johnston to found FieldAlytics Solutions Canada Ltd., a company that provides precision agriculture software, tools and advice to equipment dealers, ag input suppliers and independent agronomists.
Devin recently sat on John Deere’s Precision Ag Dealer Advisory Committee, and he continues to sit on the Global Institute for Food Security (www.gifs.ca) Industry Advisory Committee. Devin also sits on the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan, the governing body for dentists and dental specialists in Saskatchewan. Devin was a competitive clay target shooter for many years, spending time on Canada’s national team, but more recently has resorted to more pedestrian pursuits like jogging with any two of his three kids in the stroller in front of him. Devin lives in Saskatoon with his wife Maeghan and three children.
